Neville Gabie was invited to make a new work which responds to the history of the former Young’s Brewery and to the sites future prospects as a residential and commercial development in the heart of London. The work he proposed was to re-staged Dinner at Wandsworth Town Hall based on a photograph of the Staff Christmas Dinner taken in 1948. The ‘guests’ for this re-staged event included; former brewery employees, architects, planners, builders, and engineers involved in the transformation of the site, new residents, shop and restaurant tenants and members of the Wandsworth community.
This book is a definitive document of the research, interviews and delivery of the event. A bookwork collaboration that extends a long history of publications produced for Gabie.
